What is Yoga?
Yoga is a total mind-body fitness exercise that incorporates physical postures with breathing exercises and guided relaxation. All the systems of the body are affected: muscular, skeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, reproductive, endocrine, lymphatic and nervous. The yoga postures or “asanas” that are practiced work not only to create more flexibility and strength in the body but also help to heal the body of pain and stress while beneficially affecting the emotions as well as the mind. Yoga at My Body My Way involves the proper alignment of the body to achieve the maximum physical benefits. Yoga should be challenging, exciting and healing, but most of all, yoga should be Fun! Yoga Instructor
Linda Lytle-Foster, RYT. Always being a proponent for physical fitness and nutrition, Linda attended her first yoga class at her gym in 1999 and was amazed how her body felt after just one class. She felt both a physical and spiritual connection to the practice and began her yoga journey. A longtime student of Anusara Yoga, Linda graduated from Willow Street Yoga Center’s Anusara Yoga Teacher Training in 2005 and has been teaching ever since. Linda retired from the Federal Government in 2009 and continues to teach yoga at her home studio and at My Body My Way in Bowie. Her classes combine bringing the body into proper alignment with classical yoga postures along with a sense of fun and adventure. She believes that yoga should not only create a strong body and tranquil mind, but should also be lighthearted and fun. She continues to study yoga and ayurveda and trains regularly with her teacher, Certified Anusara Instructor Lucy Lomax. Linda makes jewelry and is training in Silversmithing, creates and grows Bonzai trees and enjoys sailing with her husband Calvin on their ketch Capstone. -
